I love the concept, but I think it needs some small tweaks to make it a bit more fun.
> A way to tell what's currently equipped to your gun would help enormously in making more decisions
> Autofire is useful for preventing some of that RSI
> Maybe speeding the character up? The mage boss' fire walls are really awkward to run around.
> A pistol-whip melee attack? I know it sort of goes against the theme, so maybe not.
> An aiming reticule, just to know where bullets land.
Otherwise, it's solid!
